Accreditation

Accreditation & Standards

Virtualis is committed to the highest standards of classical instruction, virtue formation, and academic excellence. As a newly launched K–12 school, we are in the early stages of our accreditation journey. This is a normal and expected process for any new institution, as accreditation takes time and must be earned through demonstrated outcomes, leadership, curriculum, and operations.

We are beginning with grades K–5 in our inaugural year (2025–2026), expanding to grades 6–8 the following year, and adding one high school grade each year thereafter. Our focus is on deep, high-quality formation—not rapid expansion. While we believe classical education can begin at any stage of life, we encourage families to begin as early as possible, so students grow into a virtuous academic life with strong foundations. That said, older siblings in grades 6–12 may still be considered for enrollment on a case-by-case basis, especially if they are seeking a deeper, more intentional educational experience.

Accredited Instruction Through Great Hearts Online

While Virtualis is pursuing independent accreditation, we proudly partner with Great Hearts Online (GHO) to deliver core instruction. GHO is a fully accredited classical education provider, offering rigorous liberal arts curriculum and teacher-led instruction across multiple states. GHO is accredited through Cognia (formerly AdvancED/SACS/CASI) and operates as a public charter and microschool partner in multiple regions.

This means students enrolled in Virtualis who receive instruction through GHO are learning in an already accredited academic environment. For students in middle and high school, this ensures that:

  • Coursework is transferable to other schools and districts
  • Credits count toward graduation requirements
  • Transcripts meet college and scholarship recognition standards

In other words, GHO’s accreditation gives families confidence that instruction meets national and regional academic standards—even as Virtualis builds its own accreditation pathway in parallel.

Timing and the High School Track

Accreditation is especially relevant for high school students, as their courses impact transcripts, college admissions, and graduation eligibility. Since Virtualis will not offer full high school instruction until 2027–2028 and beyond, our timeline for institutional accreditation is aligned with that launch. In the meantime, high school siblings may be accepted on a case-by-case basis and will benefit from the already accredited GHO curriculum and instruction.

In short: there is no rush to "get accredited" by day one—because we’re already providing accredited instruction where it matters most, and our long-term plan is right on track.

Standards That Go Beyond Compliance

While we meet academic standards, we are not defined by them. At Virtualis, education is not a checklist—it is a calling. Our standards are grounded in classical tradition, Christian anthropology, and moral clarity. We align with the best practices of liberal arts institutions, drawing from the model of the Trivium and Quadrivium, but we are not beholden to passing fads or test-driven metrics.

Our ultimate standard is truth, goodness, and beauty. Accreditation supports that mission, but it will never replace it.
